What's Your Word: Wisdom

There are few people in the world like the lovely and grounded Dianna Lucas. In sitting for the initial cycle of The Awakenings Project (A1) after being referred by friend of the project Julie Longyear, Dianna chose the word wisdom. She actually had chosen two words (sacred and wisdom), but in viewing her images after her session, her stance and positioning for wisdom was in her words ‘more open’ than the positioning for sacred.

By her presence and speech, there is a saged nature to her essence which draws you in and reminds you of your humanity as well as our need as human beings to be connected to what is larger than ourselves. Dianna explains it this way:

“I was recently part of an empowering photoshoot entitled "Awakenings [The Awakenings Project]". The photographer and creative force behind the project is Marissa Southards. I had the honor to participate with many of my sacred sisters and some women I have not met yet. What will come of this project continues to evolve, but what I have received from this is more powerful than even the image suggests. I have built my life around Sacred Wisdom and Shamanic teachings.

I have, in my past, hidden that part of myself from public view for many reasons including our culture's fear of Wisdom Traditions, my personal businesses, my child's school, and many others. What this symbolizes for me on the Solstice is a return of the light, of the sun, and of my Self. I will not hide myself to make anyone comfortable.

I am a Goddess.

That is a powerful statement, go ahead and try it on. A Goddess is a woman who emerges from deep within herself. She is a woman who has honestly explored her darkness and learned to celebrate her light. She is a woman who is able to fall in love with the magnificent possibilities within her. She is a woman who knows of the magic and mysterious places inside her, the sacred places that can nourish her soul and make her whole. She is a woman who radiates light. She is magnetic.

I am a goddess and so are you.

To the men who are reading this, you have Divine Masculine within you too. Call it what you will, Warrior, God, or any other name. I claim Goddess and Priestess and Witch, I claim Medicine Woman, Master Herbalist, Healer, Wise Woman, Sister, Mother, Elder, Tribal Leader, and Sacred Activist.

What will you claim? I wish all of you blessings every day. I would like to invite you to join me on my Sacred Wisdom Retreats to rediscover yourself, your wisdom, your voice, and your tribe. May all the magic of the season fill you with Joy and may you use that energy wisely for the Good of All, The Harm of None.”

Indeed as this project evolves, we see the width and breadth of what it means to be female. We see participants embracing all that they are, and in that power, in that space they gain the strength to embrace what they are or all they will become. In embracing the totality of self, is the ultimate wisdom.
